Goat 'Basics' Workshop in Perry Jan. 6

The Middle Georgia Goat Producers will sponsor a "Goat Basics" workshop Jan. 6 in Perry, Ga.

The free workshop will be at the Houston County Extension Office at 733 Carroll Street, near the courthouse. It will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end by noon.

The morning session will cover fencing, housing, browse, medications, giving shots, worming goats, feet trimming and selecting breeding goats.

In the afternoon, anyone interested can go with a group to a nearby restaurant for lunch and then visit several goat farms around Perry. The after-lunch, hands-on training will include giving shots, worming goats, trimming feet and just seeing how some folks raise goats.
