Knauft Presides Over CAST

David Knauft, associate dean in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the University of Georgia, has begun a year-long term as president of the Council for Agricultural Science and Technology.

CAST works to identify scientific issues relating to food, agriculture and natural resources, and provides science-based information to national legislators, regulators and the media. CAST is made up of 38 professional societies, represented on the board of directors.

As president, Knauft helps the executive vice president coordinate identifying issues, developing science-based responses and disseminating this information. CAST uses various forms to share its information, including task force reports, issue papers, senate briefings, conferences, media announcements and Web pages.
