Mickler honored by Georgia Green Industry Association

University of Georgia Cooperative Extension agent Keith Mickler recently received the Communicator of the Year Award from the Georgia Green Industry Association (GGIA).

The award honors the individual who has best served Georgia's green industry, which includes horticulture, landscaping and lawn maintenance, through the media and other forms of promotion.

Mickler, the UGA Extension coordinator in Floyd County, was selected based on his service to Georgia’s green industry in his district and beyond its boundaries.

“Keith embodies the spirit of this award. He lends his talents at industry functions across the state and goes above and beyond the call of duty as an agent,” said GGIA Executive Director Chris Butts. “To growers and gardeners from all corners of Georgia, Keith is well-known for his contributions and his commitment to communicating good news about the green industry.”

Mickler’s Extension career began in 1994 with the University of Florida Extension in Panama City. In late 1998, he joined UGA Extension and was based in Cairo, Georgia. Now in Floyd County, Mickler leads programs on best management practices, integrated pest management and pesticide safety.
