There’s nothing quite as satisfying as harvesting a juicy, vibrant watermelon or a sun-kissed, perfectly ripened tomato from your garden.
For anyone who has a green thumb, May’s Saturday at the Rock session is for you. Set aside Saturday, May 21, to learn about seed-saving and the benefits of heirloom plants in your garden.
Heirloom plants come from seeds that have been handed down for generations. They are openly pollinated and produce great flavor. Sign up for Rock Eagle’s Saturday at the Rock to learn how to produce your very own heirlooms. In no time, your garden will yield an abundance of unique and mouthwatering fruits and vegetables.
George Boyhan, University of Georgia professor and vegetable expert with more than 25 years of experience, will talk about the benefits of seed-saving and how to grow heirlooms in your garden. For experienced gardeners, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn new skills. For the beginner, there’s no better place to start.
This program is appropriate for ages 16 and up and costs $3 per person. Advanced registration for this program is required.
