University of Georgia Cooperative Extension specialists will present the first in a four-part series of green industry updates on June 12 in Cherokee County.
Set to begin at 9 a.m. and conclude by 12:30 p.m., the update will be held in the Hoke O’Kelly Auditorium at Reinhardt University in Waleska, Ga. Participants will learn about new herbicides available for problem weed control in turfgrass, how to identify and manage ornamental plant disease and how to use new insecticides as part of a turfgrass integrated pest management program.
Future green industry updates are set for the following dates: July 17, DeKalb County; Aug. 14, Fayette County; and Sept. 25, Fulton County. The DeKalb County class will focus on turfgrass insect and disease control. Topics at the Fayette County class will center around new and emerging pests in ornamentals, an update on perennials and herbicides for use in nurseries and the landscape industry. The Fulton County class will focus on plant disease identification and management, late season insect pest management and how to identify nutrient deficiencies.
Participants will qualify for three hours of commercial pesticide credit in either category 24 or 35, three hour of ISA Arborist credit and one hour of private pesticide credit.
