UGA hosts Southeast Hay Convention

Whether you are new to hay production or an old hand at it, the University of Georgia’s Forage Team invites you to learn more about producing high quality hay at the Fifth Annual Southeast Hay Convention. This year’s event will be held March 6-7 in Tifton, Ga., at the UGA-Tifton Campus Conference Center.

“This event is a must for anyone who is serious about making and selling good quality hay,” said Dennis Hanock, a UGA Extension forage specialist. “This training is rather unique in the Southeast. It is essentially the only opportunity for those who are serious about commercial-hay production to get an A to Z coverage of the subject.”

Last year, more than100 participants came from seven states and as far away as Puerto Rico to attend.

The 2012 Southeast Hay Convention begins at 8 a.m. on March 6, and includes two days of learning and interacting with fellow hay producers and University specialists. Early-bird registration is $170 per person ($100 for each extra person from the same farm) by Feb. 17. Registration includes lunch both days, a 400-page Southeast Hay Convention notebook, a weed identification book and many other reference materials.

More information about the convention can be found on the UGA forage management website at www.georgiaforages.com. A registration form can be printed from the website and mailed in with payment, or it can be completed online with a credit or debit card.
