Three candidates in the race for Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture will face off in a debate at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 2 at the Emory University School of Law’s Tull Auditorium in Atlanta, Ga.
The debate marks the first time candidates have been called together to discuss their views on sustainable agriculture. The three candidates vying for votes are Republican Gary Black, Libertarian Kevin Cherry and Democrat J.B. Powell.
Georgia Public Broadcasting’s Rickey Bevington will moderate the event, which is free and open to the public.
The debate is sponsored by the Emory University Office of Sustainability Initiatives and School of Law, Georgia Organics, Atlanta Community Food Bank, Georgia Citizens Coalition on Hunger, the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and Whole Foods Market.
