UGA workshop to help landscapers make better bids

University of Georgia

To help landscapers better bid on and estimate the costs of their jobs, the University of Georgia is holding a workshop Nov. 24-25 in Athens, Ga. UGA specialists will discuss landscape installation, maintenance and software programs they’ve developed to make business easier.

The workshop will be held in a computer lab which will allow participants to get hands-on experience with software programs like Hort Scape, for landscape installation bids, and Hort Management, for follow-up maintenance bids. Following the training, they will know how to tailor the software to fit their individual businesses.

The workshop will also cover bidding strategies, estimating fixed and variable costs and preparing bids in contract form.

Day one will focus on landscape installation cost estimating, and day two will focus on landscape maintenance cost estimating. The daylong workshops will start at 8:30 a.m. each day. They will be held in Conner Hall room 202 on the UGA Athens campus.

The cost is $150 for both days or $100 for either day. The fee includes breaks, lunch, handouts and copies of the software.
