Melons, pumpkins, peppers and tomatoes will take the spotlight in a twilight summer field day June 21 at the Vidalia Onion and Vegetable Research Center.
The field day will start with supper at 6 p.m. at the research center on Georgia highways 178 and 47 near Reidsville, Ga. Visits to the field plots will follow.
The research under way at the center include:
- Variety trials and pollenizer and fruit blotch studies on watermelons.
- Variety development and a storage study on pumpkins and a seed increase on the new "Orange Bulldog" pumpkin variety.
- Variety trials on tomatoes and cantaloupes.
- A shade study on peppers and tomatoes.
