Next-owner forestry short course planned

Landowners preparing forest land for the next owner need to know about heir property and clear titles, how real estate passes from one owner to another and what options are available in estate planning. All these topics and many more will be addressed in a satellite short course offered through Cooperative Extension throughout the South.

The miniseries will consist of live Internet and satellite feeds from Clemson University from 7 to 10 p.m. on three consecutive Tuesdays, Feb. 20 and 27 and March 6.

Regional and national experts will host the sessions. Audience members will be able to interact through toll-free and Internet call-in options.

Other agenda topics include conservation easements, charitable giving, generation-skipping options, shared ownerships, family limited partnerships and property transfer issues.

To learn more about the program in your area and how you can participate, call your county University of Georgia Extension office at 1-800-ASK-UGA1. Or visit www.mastertreefarmer.net online.
