University of Georgia

For anyone new to the landscape or lawn care business or thinking of starting such a business, the two-day Business Skills Workshop Oct. 6-7 in Griffin, Ga., can be a blessing.

The workshop, in the Stuckey Building on the Griffin campus of the University of Georgia, will be taught by UGA faculty and landscape experts. It will cover the nuts and bolts of starting a business.

Sessions will include developing a business plan, guidelines for selecting equipment, managing employees, laws and regulations, ways to avoid legal headaches, cost estimating, job bidding and troubleshooting landscape problems.

Trade association representatives will be there, too, to provide information and answer questions.
