November updates address 'green industry' concerns

Anyone who owns or works for a nursery, greenhouse or landscape business can find helpful information in any or all three of the 2002 Green Industry Updates the first week in November.

A $40 fee for each one-day program (or $45 after Oct. 22) covers all classes, handouts, breaks and lunch.

In Brunswick, Ga., Nov. 5, growers and landscapers can find out the latest in water conservation and management. Over the past few years, water issues have become critical for the industry.

The update in Quincy, Fla., Nov. 6 targets landscape maintenance and installation workers. It will focus on new fertilizer recommendations, planting and mulching guidelines and dealing with turf stress.

At the Nov. 7 update in Quincy, growers will learn how to manage their nurseries under increasing scrutiny from regulatory agencies concerned about water quality and quantity.

The updates are sponsored by the extension services of the University of Georgia and University of Florida. To learn more, contact your county extension office. Or call (229) 386-3416, or go to www.ugatiftonconference.org
