Interested in Upper Suwannee River Watershed?

Anyone interested in the future quality and quantity of the water in the Upper Suwannee River Watershed should attend a discussion panel at the Nashville, Ga., Community Center April 24.

The USRW covers roughly 5,000 square miles in south-central Georgia. The Alapaha, Little and Withlacoochee rivers and most of the Okefenokee Swamp all drain into the Suwannee.

People in the USRW will be able to express their concerns to members of the Joint Comprehensive Water Plan Study Committee at this meeting. The committee will report in August 2002 on a study of the water resource issues facing Georgia. This study will influence Georgia's future water laws and policies.

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. For more information, call (229) 386-3914 or (229) 686-5123. Or go to (http://nespal.cpes.peachnet.edu/usrw).
