The University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES) and UGA Cooperative Extension are pleased to announce that registration for the 2024 Georgia Ag Forecast is now open.
The annual event is scheduled for Jan. 26 at the UGA Tifton Conference Center on the UGA Tifton campus, and it will also be live streamed to virtual registrants.
The annual seminar has become a staple for agribusiness and producers, offering the latest research and insights from UGA faculty to help them prepare for the upcoming year. A CAES Signature Event, Georgia Ag Forecast is designed to foster collaboration, showcase outstanding staff and spotlight the college’s global impact.
Mark McCann, CAES assistant dean for Extension and Agriculture and Natural Resources program leader, looks forward to providing important guidance for the state’s agricultural industry.
“CAES is committed to sharing the latest economic projections for U.S. and state agriculture to guide farmers and agribusinesses,” said McCann. “We look forward to sharing the 2024 forecast with our in-person and virtual attendees at the end of January.”
New this year, the seminar will feature a moderated panel discussion with CAES Dean and Director Nick T. Place, industry leaders and legislators. That discussion will be closely followed by the announcement of the 2024 Georgia Farmer of the Year, the second year the honor will be awarded by UGA Extension.
The schedule includes breakout sessions on row crops; hospitality; fruit and vegetables; livestock; and nursery, greenhouse and forestry. The Agricultural Economic Outlook will be presented by an industry speaker and a representative from the CAES Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics.
There is a $25 registration fee for in person attendance, which includes lunch. Virtual registration is available for $10.
