Walter Reeves

"It's a 'sluggish' show," says host Walter Reeves of his "Gardening in Georgia" show Sept. 20 and 23 on Georgia Public Television. "It's perfect for the slothful gardener who prefers the shade."

Reeves starts the program with "slime time," showing how to control the slugs and snails that love to eat plant leaves in your yard and garden. Then he moves to repairing garden hoses. Did you run over a hose left carelessly on your driveway? Reeves shows how easy it is to fix it.

For indoor gardeners, Reeves demonstrates an African violet feeder. Your African violet can feed itself while you sleep with the contraption he makes out of a plastic margarine tub. Finally, Reeves gets Helen Phillips of Callaway Gardens to proudly show off her colorful shade garden. It's full of bright foliage, but few flowers.
