Turfgrass institute set for December

University of Georgia

Turfgrass professionals will learn the latest about their industry from experts across the Southeast Dec. 9-10 during the annual Turfgrass Institute and Trade Show at the Gwinnett Civic and Cultural Center in Duluth, Ga.

Researchers from the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences will present workshops on business, worker safety, environmentally friendly practices, working with Hispanic employees, erosion, drought and turfgrass weed, pest, disease and soil management.

Scientists from Auburn University and Clemson University will share their expertise, too. Mercer University economics professor Roger Tutterow will be the guest speaker.

Pesticide license training and Georgia Certified Landscape Professional and Plant Professional training and exams will be available.

The trade show will have exhibits from more than 35 turf-related companies and associations, with silent auctions each day. The show will include Atlanta Braves interactive games and appearances by the Atlanta Falcon cheerleaders.

For Georgia Turfgrass Association members, both days cost $130 before Nov. 23 and $180 after. For nonmembers, the cost is $180 for both days before Nov. 23 and $230 after.

One-day fees for nonmembers are $140 before Nov. 23 and $190 after. For GTA members, it’s $90 before Nov. 23 and $140 after.

Fees for the trade show and luncheon only either day are $15 for GTA member and $20 for nonmembers.
