Four graduates of the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES) are among the University of Georgia Alumni Association's 40 Under 40 Class of 2022. Among the young alumni finding creative solutions to world problems, leading businesses and serving their communities are four honorees from CAES: a lawyer, a veterinarian, an industry representative and a medical resident.

Tim Miller understands the impact that education can have on a person’s life. He experienced it firsthand at the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, with professors who tailored their instruction so he could best learn. The incoming CAES Alumni Board president graduated with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural mechanization technology in 1986.

Revolutionizing seaweed
When you hear the word agriculture, seaweed might not be the first thing that comes to mind. But Allison Fortner, a University of Georgia doctoral student pursuing a degree in the Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communication, is doing her part to help raise the profile of this important marine species.

Integrative Precision Agriculture Institute
The University of Georgia is leveraging faculty expertise and strengthening industry ties through a new Institute for Integrative Precision Agriculture whose research and outreach will help sustainably feed a growing global population.
UGA's College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences will host its convocation ceremony Thursday, May 12, at The Classic Center. UGA's commencement ceremonies will be held Friday, May 13, at Sanford Stadium for undergraduate students and Stegeman Coliseum for graduate students. CAES News

Georgia Agricultural Hall of Fame
A pioneer in poultry and a producer who has been a strong advocate in agricultural policy will be inducted into the Georgia Agricultural Hall of Fame on April 9 during the 66th University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Alumni Association Awards in Athens.

Chancellor Jones
Sixty years ago, Mary Frances Early blazed a trail as the first Black graduate of the University of Georgia. Robert J. Jones, chancellor of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, followed that trail years later and shared his experiences during the 2022 Mary Frances Early Lecture, held Feb. 22 in Mahler Hall at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education & Hotel.​​​​​​​
