July 15 'Georgia Gardener' Plants Annuals in Paper

There's more than one use for a good newspaper. On July 15 and 17 on "The Georgia Gardener," host Walter Reeves gets University of Georgia horticulturist Gary Wade to show how he plants annuals through newspaper mulch.

Reeves will also show how easy it is to sprout dahlia stems in early summer to get more plants. And he'll show the best ways to irrigate large trees to protect them from summer droughts.

"The Georgia Gardener" is designed especially for Georgia gardeners. It airs Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 10 a.m. on GPTV.

The show is a production of the UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and PFC Holding Company.

Dan Rahn is a news editor with the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.
