Recreational, Small Pond Management Meeting Set

Georgia pond owners can learn how to get the most from their ponds at the Recreational and Small Pond Management meeting Aug. 22 in Macon, Ga.

Participants will learn how to properly manage fish populations, calculate pond acreage for applying chemicals properly, fertilizing, liming, identifying and controlling aquatic weeds and stocking grass carp.

Bring water

Bring a quart of pond water and any problem weeds for recommendations on liming and weed control.

The program will begin at 6 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m. at the Macon State College auditorium at 100 College Station Road in Macon. Light refreshments will be served, and door prizes will be given. Two hours of private and commercial (category 26) pesticide credit will be given as well.

To enroll, mail your name and phone number along with a check or money order, payable to "Bibb County Office Fund," to the Bibb County Extension Service, Re: Pond Management Meeting, 736 Riverside Dr., Macon, GA 31201. The registration must be received by Aug. 21.
