Muscadine Meeting, Field Day Sept. 28

However you like your muscadine grapes, you'll find something of interest in the 2001 Georgia/South Carolina Muscadine Meeting and Field Day Sept. 28 in Griffin, Ga.

University of Georgia scientists and others will lead the program. They will provide updates on everything from direct-marketing muscadines to the pollination of the plants to the nutraceutical compounds in the grapes.

The event starts at 9 a.m. on the Griffin campus of the UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.

Taste Panel, Vineyard Tour

It includes a sponsored lunch and a popular taste panel of muscadine cultivars. And it ends with a 2 p.m. tour of the Georgia Experiment Station vineyards.

The fee is $25 if the preregistration form is postmarked by Sept. 21. It's $30 after that. Couples may attend for $40 (if preregistered by Sept. 21).

To sign up, get a registration form at the nearest county extension office. Or call (770) 229-3477.
