'Storm, Excess Water' Resource Back On-line

With the remnants of Tropical Storm Allison opening the 2001 hurricane season (June 1 to Nov. 30) for Georgians, the University of Georgia has reactivated its "Storm and Excess Water" Web page (www.ect.uga.edu/storm/).

The page is a product of the UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and state climatologist David Stooksbury. It is also linked from the college's drought page.

The "Storm and Excess Water" Web page has tips on what to do before and after flooding. Suggestions for preparing for flooding are available at www.ect.uga.edu/storm/content/prep.htm.

The Southeast River Forecast Center has river stage forecasts at www.nwsserfc.noaa.gov/river.htm and rain/flooding forecasts at www.nwsserfc.noaa.gov/hmd/gis/impactmain.jpg.

Dan Rahn is a news editor with the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.
