Opportunity Burgeoning in Belgium

Spending 10 weeks in Belgium can be good for your future.

The Georgia Department of Agriculture and the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences are cosponsoring a 10-week internship with the GDA International Trade Division's European Office in Brussels, Belgium.

For students looking for practical work experience, this opportunity can help them better understand international trade, marketing and promotion while helping promote Georgia agricultural products.

The internship offers experience in the day-to-day operations of the trade office:

  • Working with importers and Georgia exporters.
  • Producing and distributing marketing publications.
  • Developing trade leads.
  • Attending and coordinating international trade shows.
  • Acting as a liaison between Georgia agribusinesses and foreign buyers.
  • Interns work with office staff. They conduct market research, write reports, maintain a client database, respond to requests for information and provide administrative support.

Qualified students must show an active interest and basic knowledge of international business. They must be familiar with standard office software. It helps to speak French, too, but it's not required.

The internship provides airfare, lodging and a modest per diem for meals and other living expenses. The 2001 summer session begins right after spring semester.
